The ever popular classic bluestone
This traditional hardscape is so versatile, consumers can find it in both stone and manufactured options
Pennsylvania bluestone is a classic hardscape material that lasts for generations. Just take a look around downtown Savannah or Charleston and you’ll find rich blue-gray and full color bluestone used throughout historic homes and courtyards. The range of color in bluestone works beautifully with essential Lowcountry building materials such as brick, cedar shakes, and tabby. And the rugged cleft surface is naturally slip-resistant, perfect for subtropical, humid climates like the Lowcountry.
Savannah Surfaces Sources Pennsylvania bluestone direct from our stone quarry partners. We stock a variety of natural stone products, and in addition to the classic flagstone, large bluestone slabs can be custom-ordered for architectural pieces such as radius pool coping and extra-large hearthstones.
NATURAL LOOK IN A MANUFACTURED PAVER Savannah Surfaces carries several brands that mimic the beauty of natural bluestone in a manufactured material. Porcelain pavers are a new addition to Lowcountry hardscaping, but the technology has been around for some time. Savannah Surfaces Cleft porcelain collection has the same cleft finish of natural bluestone, available in select blue and full color ranges. This bluestone look-a-like is non-slip, low-maintenance, and stain-resistant, perfect for outdoor living areas, raised porches, and walkways. Porcelain pavers are also strong enough to be mortar set on a driveway to create show-stopping curb appeal.
Concrete pavers by Techo-Bloc come in a variety of colors and finishes, many of which resemble natural bluestone. The Blu Slate collection features expertly blended shades from Shale Grey to Chestnut Brown to Onyx Black with a beautifully textured finish. The finished product is high-end but the installation method is much simpler than natural bluestone. Dry-laid concrete pavers can be installed over a crushed rock base for a more cost-effective driveway or patio. Permeable paver systems are also available.
