In 1968 there were 3,500 people living on Hilton Head Island when dreams became visions and development began. When building a home in a new development called Sea Pines Plantation, retired Army Colonel Jack Daugherty noticed that almost every contractor and vendor came from out of town. He felt that the Island needed its own vendors, so he earned a license to perform construction pre-treats for termite protection, and Hilton Head Exterminators was born.
His one white pick-up truck has now expanded to an entire fleet of vehicles which are equipped to meet every pest control challenge that might be experienced.
The island’s first pest control company has grown up with the island. As dreams and visions have continued, new homes have been built and businesses established to serve a population that now exceeds 40,000. Hilton Head Exterminators is committed to providing the same quality of service they offered in the early days.
As the expanding population spilled over into Bluffton and townships beyond, Hilton Head Exterminators opened an office in Bluffton to ensure quality service would be provided to the extended areas of the Lowcountry. Today, Hilton Head Exterminators protects more Lowcountry homes and businesses than anyone.
The initial commitment to quality that Col. Daugherty brought to the company has never been compromised. Over time, that commitment forged a reputation for customer satisfaction that resulted in a synergy that accelerated new customer numbers. The past half century of commitment and the resulting reputation has aged into a tradition of excellence.
The core values that were present on day-one are re-visited each day to ensure that no one forgets the reason the company has grown. The only change has been in technology which has provided for more effective treatment to prevent termites, including Formosan Termites. The re-emergence of bedbugs has been met with new and effective ways to detect and control them. Treatment plans have become more convenient with options that include monthly, bi-monthly and even quarterly treatment programs.
As the second half century unfolds, Hilton Head Exterminators is committed to continue to grow to meet the needs as future dreams and visions become more homes and businesses. A common sight in area traffic is the white pick-up trucks with the Hilton Head Exterminators name on the side….constant reminders of the company that was here first, and will continue to work to remain first in quality service and customer satisfaction.
