Space, the final frontier… or what we are all looking for in our homes. Moving to the Lowcountry can mean a lot of changes in our living arrangements. Often new homes include open floor plans, less walls and less spaces for our stuff. That’s light, we still have a lot of “Stuff” from bigger homes. The trick is how do we find more space for all our stuff. The folks at More Space Place have been figuring this out for the past 16 years and have some pretty good ideas.
The easiest starting point is your closet. Most new homes come equipped with wire shelving. They are not pretty, nor are they very functional when it comes to organizing your Stuff. Customizing your closet can maximize the vertical space in your closets. Every inch can be utilized so you can easily access our clothes, shoes, and seasonal items. Many choose to build their dresser into the closet for the convenience of having everything in one place. The custom designed closet can organize your cloth – ing, saving time, money and aggravation because you can easily find what you need. No more searching through clutter just to find that shirt or pants you KNOW you have somewhere. Closet rods can be set at heights to match your garment sizes. Adjustable shelving will help you find the perfect place for folded items, linen and shoes. Even the higher elevations of your closet can be used for seasonal and light weight items.
Your garage is an Oasis of storage ideas. Again, vertical storage with shelving can open the floor of your garage for what it was meant for…Your Car! That’s right, your car deserves a place in your garage too. There are lots of storage solutions for your garage like a vinyl slat wall that houses hooks, shelves, baskets and many other vertical storage ideas. New bike racks allow you to easily roll your bikes onto the racks without lifting your bike off the floor. Ceiling racks can give you space for large containers for storing holiday decorations, camping, kayaks, hobby gear, and lawn equipment.
Finally, that lonely third or fourth guest bedroom can be made into a dual-purpose room. Take out that bed that is used only a few times a year and replace it with a Murphy bed also known as a Wall bed. Now you have wide open spaces for a home office, a craft room, a man cave or just an open space for Yoga, exercise or ballroom dancing. What ever you want. It’s your space.
The best news is there are many cabinet colors and styles to choose. So, they don’t have to be just white cabinets anymore.
Modular cabinetry is now available in hundreds of colors and over almost unlimited styles. Cabinets are available in all shapes and sizes to truly customize the room to fit your desired wants and needs. Contact your local closet and Murphy bed retailer who may just have the perfect space saving solutions so you can keep all your “Stuff”.
